UDAN Scheme Boosts Pune’s Air Connectivity with 12 New Destinations

Pune Airport has been linked to destinations such as Bhavnagar, Sindhudurg, Nanded, Jalgaon, Kishangarh, and Prayagraj.

Pune residents are reaping the benefits of enhanced air connectivity under the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme, which has made air travel more convenient and affordable. Since the scheme’s implementation in May 2024, Pune Airport has launched flight services to 12 new destinations, witnessing significant growth in passenger numbers.

Within a year of these services, a total of 1,180 flights have operated, carrying 69,646 passengers. The UDAN scheme, launched in 2016 by the central government, aims to expand domestic air connectivity and make air travel accessible to the general population.

As part of this initiative, Pune Airport has been linked to destinations such as Bhavnagar, Sindhudurg, Nanded, Jalgaon, Kishangarh, and Prayagraj. According to airport authorities, there are plans to further expand the network to additional destinations.

Among the new routes, the Pune-Bhavnagar and Bhavnagar-Pune flights have garnered overwhelming demand. Over the past year, 232 flights from Pune to Bhavnagar transported 11,631 passengers, while 220 flights on the reverse route carried 11,588 travelers. Other destinations like Kishangarh, Jalgaon, and Nanded have also recorded significant passenger volumes.

Pune Airport authorities said the launch of 12 new routes under the UDAN scheme from Pune has received an excellent response from passengers. With affordable ticket prices and increasing connectivity, the UDAN scheme continues to make domestic air travel accessible, providing a seamless travel experience for the people of Pune.
