Pune, 26 July 2025: To ease persistent traffic congestion in Wagholi, the Pune Traffic Department has rolled out experimental measures on the Pune–Nagar Highway. These changes were implemented from Friday and are currently being monitored by senior officials on-site, including Additional Commissioner Manoj Patil and Deputy Commissioner Himmat Jadhav. The move comes in response to mounting complaints from daily commuters stuck in long queues.

Despite the changes, confusion among drivers has been reported due to unfamiliar diversions. The traffic police have requested motorists to pay attention to the newly installed signboards at junctions and follow the rules accordingly. While congestion has slightly reduced, officials admit the problem hasn’t been entirely resolved yet.

The new diversions include a restriction on turning left from Awhalwadi Chowk towards Lohegaon and a ban on right turns at Kesanand Phata Chowk. Instead, vehicles heading toward Kesanand must proceed 300 meters further (near Star Bazaar) to make a right turn.

Vehicles from Kesanand heading toward Pune can still use the Kesanand Phata Chowk. Those looking to reach Lohegaon or the village area from Awhalwadi Chowk are now required to use Wagheshwar Mandir Chowk instead.

Traffic officials, including Assistant Police Inspector Dattatray Ligade and Senior Inspector Yuvraj Hande, are supervising the ground situation with their teams. On Saturday, they were joined by other officers such as Ananta Katke, Kalpesh Jachak, Sampat Gade, and Tatya Awhale to assess the effectiveness of the new plan.

The trial will continue for a few more days before any permanent changes are considered.
