On Monday, Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar tendered his resignation to Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, facilitating the establishment of a new NDA government following the coalition's overwhelming success in the recently finished assembly elections.
Official sources reported that the final cabinet meeting of Bihar's outgoing NDA government 'empowered' Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to propose the assembly's dissolution. They noted that a resolution supporting this was unanimously approved during the 10-minute meeting led by Kumar.
According to a source, the Chief Minister met with Governor Arif Mohammad Khan shortly after the meeting to inform him of the cabinet's decision. Kumar is set to present his resignation to the Governor on November 19, marking the end of his tenure as the leader of the outgoing administration.
In the latest assembly elections, the NDA secured over 200 seats in the 243-member legislature, with the BJP achieving the highest count of 89 seats, and the JD(U) coming next with 85 seats.
