
Pune, 20 June 2025: The revered palkhis (holy palanquins) of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Sant Tukaram Maharaj will enter Pune city on June 20, 2025. Following their stay, both palkhis will depart towards Pandharpur on Sunday, June 22, 2025. To facilitate their safe passage and to avoid severe traffic congestion on city roads, the Pune Traffic Police have announced a series of temporary traffic diversions and road closures.
Palkhi Departure Routes:
Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi: Will depart from Vitthal Temple, Bhavani Peth, passing through Ramoji Gate Chowk, Bhavani Mata Temple, Mukti Fauj Chowk, Pul Gate Chowki Chowk, Mammadevi Chowk, and will continue via Solapur Road to Hadapsar Bus Stand. From there, it will turn right and proceed straight towards Saswad via Dive Ghat en route to Pandharpur.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi: Will depart from Nivdunga Vitthal Temple, Nanapeth, moving through Aruna Chowk, Samadhan Chowk, Pimpri Chowk, A.D. Camp Chowk, Ramoji Gate Chowk, Bhavani Mata Temple, Mukti Fauj Chowk, Pul Gate Chowki Chowk, Mammadevi Chowk, and via Solapur Road to Hadapsar Bus Stand. It will halt at Kadam Wak Wasti (Loni Kalbhor) for the night and depart again early on Monday, June 23, 2025, via Solapur Road and Yavat towards Pandharpur.
Road Closures:
On Sunday, June 22, from 2:00 AM until both palkhis exit the Pune Police Commissionerate limits, traffic on the palkhi routes and surrounding areas will be closed in phases as needed. Motorists are advised to avoid these routes and use designated alternative roads instead.
For Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi on Monday, June 23:
From 2:00 AM until the palkhi exits Pune limits, Solapur Road will be closed between Hadapsar and Solapur Road. Motorists should use the Magarpatta-Kharadi bypass via Wagholi to Nagar Road to reach their destination.
Additional Instructions:
Parking of all vehicles within 100 meters on either side of the palkhi routes and intersecting lanes is strictly prohibited during procession timings.
Once the palkhi moves ahead and the road is deemed safe for traffic, traffic will be gradually restored on closed sections.
Citizens are requested to follow traffic diversions and instructions from police officers to ensure the smooth conduct of the palkhi procession and to avoid unnecessary inconvenience.
