Pune, 19 June 2025: Pune is all set to welcome thousands of devotees for the annual Palkhi processions of Sant Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj, today and tomorrow. To handle the large turnout, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has announced important safety and traffic measures to ensure the event goes off smoothly and safely.
One of the main steps taken this year is to check the safety of hoardings installed along the Palkhi routes. The PCMC has asked all 1,494 hoarding agencies to inspect and strengthen their structures immediately. Officials have warned that action will be taken if any agency is found careless, as the safety of pilgrims is the top priority.
Along with this, a detailed traffic plan has been prepared in coordination with the local police. Roads along popular stretches like Nigdi to Dapodi, Dehu to Alandi, and Dighi to Bopkhel will see heavy foot traffic. Therefore, some routes will be closed or diverted, and parking restrictions will be in place to avoid jams and ensure a smooth passage for the Palkhi.
Additional security and crowd management teams will be deployed, and first-aid stations will be set up at important points. Residents and shopkeepers along the routes have been asked to follow the civic instructions and stay informed about the traffic changes to avoid any inconvenience.
For easy updates, live tracking of the Palkhi and traffic diversion details will be available on Pune Police’s social media pages and the official portal https://diversion.punepolice.gov.in. The PCMC has appealed to everyone to cooperate fully so that the 2025 Palkhi procession remains a peaceful and memorable spiritual journey for all devotees.
