Pune, 8th May 2026: A major step has been taken towards easing traffic congestion in Aundh, as the long-delayed road widening project at Aundh Body Gate Police Chowk is finally set to move forward.
An on-site inspection of the junction was conducted today by local representatives along with officials from the Pune Municipal Corporation’s Building, Property, and Road Departments.
The review focused on resolving a long-standing traffic bottleneck that has affected commuters travelling from Aundh towards Bremen Chowk and the Rajiv Gandhi Bridge corridor for several years.
The main obstruction was an old historic structure belonging to the police department, located in the middle of the road. Despite approvals being granted earlier, the road widening project remained stalled for years due to structural concerns and a lack of coordination between departments.
Following continuous coordination between the Police Department and the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), all required permissions have now been secured, and the process to shift the structure has officially begun.
Officials said the structure is expected to be relocated within the next 15 days. Once the shifting work is completed, the pending road widening project will start immediately and is expected to be completed within the following month.
The development is expected to bring major relief to thousands of daily commuters who regularly use this busy corridor, while also improving overall traffic movement in the Aundh area.
