Pune, 2nd July 2025: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested two individuals in separate bribery cases in Pune. A senior clerk from the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission and a female typist outside the Haveli Tehsil office were caught red-handed while accepting bribes on Tuesday.
In the first case, Yogesh Dattatraya Chavandke (37), working as a senior clerk at the consumer commission, was arrested for allegedly taking a ₹1,500 bribe. The complainant had filed a compensation case in 2022 after a motor accident. When he visited the office recently, Chavandke claimed that the file was missing and demanded ₹2,000 to find it. After negotiation, the amount was settled at ₹1,500.
Following a complaint, the ACB laid a trap. Chavandke called the complainant to meet near the canteen of the new administrative building, where he accepted the bribe and was immediately caught by the ACB team. A case has been filed against him at the Bund Garden Police Station under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
In the second incident, Anita Vinod Ranpise (54), a private typist operating outside the Haveli sub-registrar's office, demanded ₹6,000 from a complainant who needed a certified copy of a property sale deed for a home loan process. After discussions, the bribe amount was brought down to ₹5,000.
The complainant informed the ACB, which set a trap and caught Ranpise accepting the bribe outside the Haveli Tehsil office. She has been booked at Khadak Police Station. Both cases are under investigation, and further legal action will follow under the guidance of senior ACB officials.
