Pune 2nd July 2025: After a long break, rains returned to Pune on Tuesday (July 1), bringing a slight dip in daytime temperatures. The city recorded a maximum temperature of 28°C and a minimum of 22.4°C. Weather experts forecast further decrease in day temperatures and an increase in rainfall activity over the next 3–4 days.
On Tuesday morning, the city experienced cloudy skies, and around 11:30 a.m., light rain was reported in both central areas and suburbs. The showers brought temporary relief from the heat but also caused inconvenience, especially for two-wheeler riders, as traffic slowed down on major roads.
While Pune city witnessed light rainfall, heavy downpours continued in the ghat regions of the district. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an 'orange alert' for these areas, warning of intense rainfall at isolated locations. Light to moderate rain is expected in Pune city and surrounding areas, with a slight dip in maximum temperatures over the next couple of days.
Currently, the monsoon is active. A low-pressure area, earlier located near West Bengal and northern Odisha, has now settled over Jharkhand and neighboring regions. This system is supported by cyclonic circulation extending up to 5.8 km above sea level, which is likely to enhance rainfall activity.
Rain Forecast:
Wednesday (July 2): Maximum temperature to drop to around 27°C; sky to remain partly cloudy with chances of light to moderate rain.
From Thursday (July 3) onward: Further drop in day temperatures is expected, possibly reaching 26°C, with continued chances of light to moderate rain and partly cloudy skies.
