Pune, 5th November 2025: In a shocking daylight murder near Maharana Pratap Udyan on Bajirao Road in central Pune, a 17-year-old boy was killed after three minors allegedly attacked him with a kukri on Tuesday afternoon. The incident, which occurred around 3:15 pm, created panic and confusion in the area.

The victim, identified as Mayank Somdatt Kharare (17), a resident of Sane Guruji Nagar, PMC Colony, was riding a two-wheeler with his friend, who also sustained injuries. According to police, the three accused, all residents of Parvati, followed the boys and hit their motorcycle from behind.

They then allegedly stabbed Mayank multiple times before fleeing on their vehicle. The injured teens were rushed to Sassoon Hospital, where Mayank was declared dead before treatment.

Senior police officials, including DCP Krishikesh Rawale, ACP Anuja Deshmane, and Senior Inspector Shashikant Chavan, reached the spot soon after. CCTV footage from the area has been collected, and the murder weapon was recovered. A case has been registered at Khadak Police Station.

Investigators said that the murder stemmed from an old dispute that took place about three months ago. All three accused minors were detained shortly after the incident.

Police officials said the killing was a result of previous enmity between the boys and not connected to any gang activity.

The crime was committed due to a previous dispute between the victim and the accused. Three minor suspects have been detained, and forensic teams have collected evidence from the scene, said DCP Krishikesh Rawale.
