Pune: The blood sample test has revealed that Talegaon Dabhade Municipal Council CEO NK Patil was under the influence of alcohol on June 1, when his car hit two other vehicles near railway station in Talegaon Dabhade. Even though no one was injured in this incident, Patil had allegedly absconded from the accident spot and was later apprehended by police.

Owner of one damaged car Siddharam Irappa Lonikar had filed a complaint at Talegaon Dabhade police station. Police had registered FIR against Patil under sections 279,336 and 427 of the Indian Penal Code and also sections 184, 185 and 134 (13) of the Motor Vehicle Act.

Police had detained Patil for blood sample testing and reports were awaited for further action. Talegaon Dabhade police confirmed on Friday (June 7) that the blood sample test has confirmed that Patil was under the influence of alcohol when the incident occured on June 1.

Speaking to mediapersons, Police Inspector Pradeep Rayannavar said, "Complainant Lonikar had parked his car on road side near Talegaon Station Chowk. After Patil's speeding car hit Lonikar's car, local citizens rushed towards the spot. Fearing public anger, Patil sped his car and fled from the spot. Later police apprehended Patil from his home. He was found in an inebriated state. Patil was then taken to PCMC's YCM Hospital for medical tests. Patil's blood sample was taken for test and its report confirm that he was under the influence of alcohol when the incident happened."

Several other complaints against Patil were also received by the District Collector office. Based on these complaints, Patil was transferred from his post. However, Patil had challenged his transfer order and got it revoked from the Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal (MAT).

District Administrative Officer Vyankatesh Durvas told mediapersons that a report regarding this hit and run case will be sought from police.
