
Pune, 3rd September 2025: In the early hours of Wednesday, the fire brigade evacuated at least 45 residents from a building in the Guruwar Peth area of central Pune after a fire broke out in the parking lot. No casualties have been reported as of now.
Pune Fire Brigade officials stated that the fire was reported at approximately 3:30 am in the Zeba Shelter residential society near Chhoti Masjid in Guruwar Peth.
Pune Fire Brigade officials reported that an electricity meter box caught fire in the parking area of Zeba Shelter residential society in Guruwar Peth, quickly spreading flames to nearby motorcycles.
“After receiving the call, a fire tender was deployed. After the squad reached the location, the situation was assessed. An electricity meter box had caught fire, and the flames were rapidly spreading to nearby bikes in the parking lot. Intense smoke was spreading throughout the building,” said a fire brigade officer.
The officer stated that the fire was contained in 15 minutes, and all 45 people in the building were evacuated safely. “The electricity meter box and four bikes were completely gutted in the fire. No casualties were reported in the incident,” the officer added.
Fire officer Prashant Gaykar, along with firefighters Atul Mohite, Azim Shaikh, Sudhir Navale, Tejas Patel, Sagar Shirke, and Yash Virkar, participated in the rescue and firefighting mission.
