Pune, 31 December 2025: To prevent mishaps during New Year’s Eve celebrations, the Forest Department has imposed a ban on overnight stays at several forts across Pune district on December 31. The decision aims to curb illegal parties, alcohol consumption, and damage to forest areas.

From early morning itself, forest officials have increased patrolling in protected forests, hill zones, and fort regions. Night surveillance has also been strengthened as part of precautionary measures ahead of the year-end celebrations.

The ban applies to popular forts including Sinhagad Fort, Rajgad Fort, Torna Fort, Lohagad Fort, Visapur Fort, and Rajmachi Fort. Visitors will not be allowed to stay overnight at these locations on December 31.

In addition, the Forest Department has tightened security across forested hills in city and suburban areas, including Bhamboorda, Taljai, Warje, and other surrounding hill zones. Officials said special teams have been deployed to ensure that no parties or gatherings take place inside forest limits.
