Pune, 10 January 2026: Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and NCP leader Supriya Sule on Thursday jointly addressed a press conference to release the party’s manifesto for the upcoming Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Civic Polls.
Presenting a united front, the two leaders said the focus of their campaign would be on improving daily life for citizens through better public services and cleaner cities.
Ajit Pawar announced that the NCP will provide free Metro and PMPML bus services in both Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad if elected. He said traffic congestion is costing the city thousands of crores every year in wasted fuel, lost time and higher pollution.
According to him, making public transport free will reduce the number of private vehicles on the road, ease traffic jams and help improve air quality.
“We are taking a decision to give free Metro and free bus services to Punekars and residents of Pimpri-Chinchwad. If people use public transport more, traffic will reduce and pollution will come down. I ask citizens to trust us once,” Pawar said.
Daily Water Supply – Clean and regular water through taps to every household.
Traffic-Free, Pothole-Free Cities – Smoother roads and better traffic management.
Regular Cleanliness – Strong focus on hygiene and solid waste management.
High-Tech Healthcare – Modern and accessible health facilities for all citizens.
Pollution-Free Cities – Steps to reduce air pollution and improve overall environment.
Pawar also spoke about the water situation in Pune, saying that the government had already approved more than ₹2,800 crore for water projects, but several new water tanks and systems are yet to be completed. He said these projects will be fast-tracked to ensure regular and adequate water supply to all areas.
On traffic, he pointed out that Pune ranks among the worst cities globally for congestion. He said missing road links will be completed and the overall transport system strengthened to reduce travel time, fuel wastage and stress on commuters. Cleaner roads and better traffic flow, he added, will also help lower pollution levels.
Talking about cleanliness, Pawar said urban hygiene is close to his heart and that cities cannot become clean unless people are motivated and systems work efficiently. With better waste management, public participation and strong civic action, Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad can become healthier and more livable, he said.
With the joint appearance of Ajit Pawar and Supriya Sule, the NCP signalled a coordinated push to win the two crucial civic bodies, promising development, better mobility and an improved quality of life for citizens.
