Pune, 10 November 2025: A major accident was averted in Pune on Monday morning after a fuel tanker caught fire at Shewalewadi Chowk in Hadapsar. The incident occurred around 9:20 am, prompting the Pune Fire Brigade Control Room to dispatch water tankers from Hadapsar, Kalepadal, BT Kawade Road, and Kharadi stations.
When firefighters reached the busy intersection, they found the tanker’s cabin engulfed in flames. The vehicle was transporting 15,000 litres of diesel and 5,000 litres of petrol from Loni. The driver jumped out in time and was unharmed.
Firefighters surrounded the tanker and continuously sprayed water from multiple sides to stop the flames from spreading to the fuel compartments. Their timely action brought the situation under control and prevented a possible explosion.
