Pune, 3rd March 2026: Holi celebrations across Maharashtra and other parts of the country were marked by enthusiasm and large gatherings. However, a festive event in Pune took a serious turn after a light girder collapsed at a Holi party held on Koregaon Park–Mundhwa Road.
The incident occurred at Royal Farm, where a private event company had organized a large-scale Holi celebration. More than 1,000 youngsters had reportedly attended the program. During the event, a lighting structure suddenly gave way and fell onto participants, triggering panic at the venue.
According to initial information, around 15 to 16 people, including young men and women, were injured in the mishap. Police officials said that four of the injured were admitted to Sassoon General Hospital for treatment, and one of them is in critical condition. The remaining injured individuals are being treated at nearby hospitals.
Authorities are also examining whether all necessary permissions were obtained for the event and whether safety norms were followed. While organizers had reportedly secured permission to conduct the program, it is being said that alcohol consumption was not permitted at the venue.
There are claims that some attendees may have been under the influence of alcohol, though police have not yet issued an official statement confirming this.
Following the accident, police intervened, stopped the event, and asked attendees to vacate the premises. Further investigation into the cause of the girder collapse and possible negligence is underway.
