Pune, 29 December 2025: The State Excise Department conducted a major crackdown on an illegal party at The Noir Pub in Viman Nagar in the early hours of Saturday. Around 50 people, including men and women, were detained during the operation.
The raid took place at about 5 am on December 27 at the pub on Airport Road. The action was led by Superintendent Atul Kanade after officials received specific inputs about an unauthorised event. The department seized liquor and other materials worth ₹3.67 lakh, including 178 bottles of foreign liquor.
According to officials, the party was being organised without the mandatory licence, violating excise norms. A case has been registered against 10 persons, including the pub owner Amarjit Singh Sanyu. Equipment allegedly used for the illegal operation, such as furniture, speakers, sound systems, a laptop, glassware and a fog machine, was also seized.
Kanade said that several large parties are organised across Pune ahead of New Year, and some organisers try to bypass rules. To prevent violations, the department has deployed 21 flying squads across the city to monitor illegal parties and liquor-related offences.
In total, action has been taken against 52 people. Two accused, the pub operator and the manager, are currently absconding and have been declared wanted. Further investigation is underway.
