According to officials, the party was being organised without the mandatory licence, violating excise norms. A case has been registered against 10 persons, including the pub owner Amarjit Singh Sanyu. Equipment allegedly used for the illegal operation, such as furniture, speakers, sound systems, a laptop, glassware and a fog machine, was also seized.

Kanade said that several large parties are organised across Pune ahead of New Year, and some organisers try to bypass rules. To prevent violations, the department has deployed 21 flying squads across the city to monitor illegal parties and liquor-related offences.
