The US-Iran conflict's ripple effect has started to show in India. In the ongoing LPG crisis, Pune's Infosys has advised employees that all food courts will operate on a limited menu and recommended bringing meals from home while avoiding campus events that require catering.
Infosys stated that all food courts will temporarily run on a limited menu, with some cooked items being sourced from vendors’ central kitchens. The company is also increasing the use of alternative cooking methods, including electrical appliances and biofuel.
An email containing these advisories was sent to Infosys Pune employees by the canteen committee on Thursday. As reported by the Indian Express, the email states, “As per the latest government guidelines, the use of LPG across various sectors has been revised in light of the ongoing geopolitical situation. This has resulted in restricted and controlled distribution of LPG as a commodity in commercial food and beverage operations across the country. Food court vendors are currently receiving reduced LPG supplies from their respective providers. Despite their sincere efforts to continue operations, the limited availability of LPG is restricting their ability to operate at full capacity.”
Infosys has informed employees at its development centers in Bengaluru, Pune, and Chennai about the impact on food court services due to the LPG shortage.
The ongoing LPG shortage has impacted multiple sectors across India. Earlier reports highlighted that several messes in Pune’s Peth area had to close due to cylinder unavailability. These establishments mainly cater to outstation students preparing for competitive exams such as MPSC and UPSC.
