Pune, 10 July 2025: The Khadakwasla dam authorities have decided to reduce the water discharge into the Mutha river from 1,655 cusecs to 654 cusecs starting at 11:00 AM on July 10, 2025. This decision was taken due to current water levels and weather conditions. Officials have warned that the outflow may change again depending on future rainfall and inflow into the dam. Residents and relevant departments are urged to stay alert for any updates.

Meanwhile, people living along the banks of the Pavana river have also been notified of rising water levels. As of now, the Pavana dam is 77.01% full and continues to receive inflows due to persistent rainfall in the catchment area. Authorities have advised residents to immediately relocate water pumps, farming tools, livestock, or any materials near the riverbank to safer locations.

Although the city witnessed heavy rainfall yesterday, conditions eased temporarily today. However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Pune city and surrounding Ghat areas, cautioning about the possibility of more rain. The alert emphasizes the likelihood of heavy showers in specific Ghat regions.

Looking ahead, the IMD forecasts generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rain likely to continue throughout the week in Pune and its suburbs. From July 10 to July 15, very light to light rain is expected, with the possibility of heavy rainfall at isolated spots in the Ghat regions. Authorities urge citizens to stay cautious, especially those living near rivers and low-lying areas.
