Pune, 4th July 2025: The Pune Police have detained the prime suspect in a high-profile sexual assault case that took place in an upscale society in Kondhwa. The incident occurred around 7:30 pm on Wednesday evening. Commissioner of Police, Amitesh Kumar, on Thursday revealed that the investigation has brought several shocking details to light.
Initially, the victim had alleged that the accused sprayed something on her face, causing her to lose consciousness before assaulting her. However, police investigations have found no evidence of any spray being used. This has led to further questions and deeper investigation.
One key clue came from CCTV footage. Although the accused's face was clearly visible in the society’s CCTV footage, the victim initially refused to identify him. This raised suspicion and pushed investigators to dig deeper.
Additionally, a selfie found on the victim’s mobile phone contained the text "I will come back", which she claimed was written by the accused. But forensic analysis revealed that the text was edited and added later by the victim herself.
The relationship between the two is now under scrutiny. The police have not yet confirmed whether the act was forced or consensual. It has come to light that the two individuals had known each other for over a year and regularly communicated via WhatsApp, including on the day of the incident.
The accused is an engineer employed at a reputed IT company in Baner. While he has not been formally arrested yet, he is currently in police custody and being interrogated. Over 500 CCTV locations were scanned and around 500 police personnel, including 200 crime branch officials, were involved in the investigation.
Police Commissioner Kumar stated that several complex angles are still being investigated and the full truth will emerge only after the probe concludes.
