Pune, 17 November 2025: Pune and several other cities in Maharashtra are expected to face a cold wave over the next few days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing an alert as minimum temperatures continue to fall across the state. The season’s first cold wave is likely till Tuesday, driven by cold northern winds and reduced humidity.
Pune recorded its coldest morning of the season on Sunday, November 16, when temperatures dipped to 10.6°C, nearly 5°C below normal. The IMD said the cold conditions will continue for the next two days. In Pashan, the minimum temperature fell further to 10.1°C, while Haveli and Malin registered single-digit temperatures of 8.6°C and 9.9°C respectively.
Districts placed under the cold wave alert include Pune, Nashik, Ahilyanagar, Nanded, and parts of Marathwada. A meteorologist from IMD Pune noted that the inflow of cold northern winds and a drop in humidity have intensified the chill over the city and surrounding regions.
The expert added that although Pune is witnessing a sharp temperature decline, no major local alert has been issued.
On Monday, Pune’s minimum temperature is expected to hover around 12°C, with daytime temperatures likely to settle near 28°C. In Pashan, the minimum may drop to around 10°C, continuing the trend of colder pockets within the city.
The IMD also explained that the combination of colder nights and slightly cooler-than-usual days over the past few days has created a stronger sense of chill across Pune. A gradual rise in temperature is expected after November 18, with nights likely to stabilise around 13–14°C and daytime highs around 30°C.
