Pune, 17 June 2025: The administration has begun preparations to form the wards for the upcoming Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) elections. Amidst discussions about which political party or leader might benefit from the new ward boundaries, Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram firmly stated that he would not give in to any such pressures.
The state government has directed the municipal administration to draft the new ward structure. This draft will require the approval of the State Election Commissioner, after which objections will be invited and hearings conducted. Following these steps, the final ward structure will be declared after incorporating any necessary changes.
Commissioner clarified that the ward formation work has not yet started. However, he assured that while creating the wards, important aspects like road networks and natural boundaries will be considered meticulously, strictly adhering to the rules set by the government.
Emphasising his experience in handling election-related duties, Commissioner assured citizens and political parties alike that there would be no room for any political interference during the process. He added that he is well-versed in such tasks and will handle them impartially.
The entire process, including public objections and hearings, will be completed before September 4. Since the draft ward structure rarely undergoes major changes after the hearing stage, it has attracted significant attention from all stakeholders keen to see how the wards will be mapped this time.
