PMC Announces New Abhay Scheme With 75% Penalty Waiver For Outstanding Property Tax
Pune, 8th November 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced a major relief for property owners by launching a new Abhay Scheme that offers a 75% waiver on penalty charges for all outstanding property tax.
The benefit will be available for properties within the city limits as well as in newly merged villages. The scheme will be implemented between November 15, 2025, and January 15, 2026, according to Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram.
PMC data shows that 4,97,172 property owners are eligible for this scheme. Their total principal tax dues amount to ₹3,158 crore, while the penalty has accumulated to ₹9,002 crore. If all eligible property holders participate, the civic body expects to recover around ₹5,500 crore during the two-month period.
However, property owners who have previously taken advantage of an earlier Abhay Scheme will not be allowed to apply again. About 1,40,437 property owners had benefited earlier and still owe ₹900 crore in arrears. Commissioner Ram said that strict action will be taken against those who do not clear their dues, especially those who received previous relief.
PMC expects this initiative to boost revenue collection and help reduce long-pending property tax dues, giving citizens a one-time opportunity to settle their accounts with significant financial relief.
