Pune, 5th December 2025: With the Pune Municipal Corporation election around the corner and expected model code of conduct by the third or fourth week of December, the administration has moved into high gear.
Several major projects, collectively worth nearly ₹1,250 crore, are being prepared for inauguration or foundation stone ceremonies. These events are likely to be held in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The pace of political activity had already increased once ward boundaries and reservations were finalised for the upcoming civic elections. With the voters’ list also nearing completion, officials believe the electoral process could begin sooner than expected.
In view of this, PMC has started pushing to complete all ready projects so they can be unveiled before the code comes into effect.
Among the major works lined up for inauguration are components of the 24x7 water supply project, including 20 new water tanks and 40 distribution zones, costing around ₹450 crore.
The new Integrated Command and Control Centre for disaster management (₹53 crore), the upgraded route for the upcoming world cycling event (₹145 crore), sewage treatment upgrades (₹13.31 crore), new fire stations in Kharadi, Chandni Chowk and Baner (₹25 crore), the A and B wings of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical College (₹130 crore), and the Nagar Road regional office building (₹20 crore) are also ready for launch. Together, these add up to approximately ₹836 crore.
On the foundation-stone side, PMC plans to begin work on the flyover and grade separators at Bindu Madhav Chowk and the Acharya Anand Rishiji Maharaj Chowk (University Chowk), together worth ₹150 crore.
Other upcoming works include the Shewalwadi water supply project (₹35 crore), Mundhwa-Keshavnagar tank and pipeline (₹27 crore), and the Amrut 2 scheme’s new water treatment facility at Vadgaon (₹200 crore). These projects total around ₹413 crore.
Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram said the administration is focusing on completing all eligible works before the code of conduct comes into force. According to him, projects worth roughly ₹1,200 crore are ready for either inauguration or foundation ceremonies, and review meetings are being held to ensure timely execution.
