Pune, 29 November 2025: Pune is gearing up for municipal elections after the election schedule was cleared following a Supreme Court order. Officials indicate that the model code of conduct will likely be implemented around December 15, with elections expected in the second or third week of January.

The municipal corporation has already started the election process. Ward structures have been announced based on the 2011 census, followed by seat reservations and the release of the draft voter list. Notifications for corrections and objections have also begun.

This year, 41 wards will elect a total of 165 corporators. Of these, 83 seats are reserved for women and 82 for men. Among the women’s quota, 48 seats are open, 23 for OBC, 11 for Scheduled Castes, and one for Scheduled Tribes. Among men, 48 seats are open, 22 for OBC, 11 for SC, and one for ST.

Prasad Katkar, Deputy Commissioner of the Pune Election Department, said that the municipal corporation has ensured compliance with the 50% reservation for women, and there are no obstacles expected for the smooth conduct of the elections.
