Pune, 9th January 2025: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has declared the locations of vote counting centres for the forthcoming municipal elections. The counting will be conducted at various venues across the city, including sports complexes, educational institutions and cultural halls, depending on the zone.
According to the civic administration, vote counting for wards under the Dhankawadi–Sahakarnagar and Nagar Road–Vadgaon Sheri zones will take place within the premises of their respective zonal offices. Votes from all other wards will be counted at designated centres located in different parts of Pune.
The information was made public on Thursday evening by PMC Deputy Commissioner Arvind Mali, just eight days before polling. Until now, the administration had not disclosed details of the counting arrangements, even as election campaigning intensified across the city.
Pune has witnessed a surge in political activity ahead of the elections. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar have already addressed rallies in the city, while Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is scheduled to campaign on Friday.
Public meetings by Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and MNS president Raj Thackeray are also expected in the coming days.
The civic body said the arrangements for vote counting have been finalised to ensure a smooth, secure and systematic process on counting day.
