Pune, 8th January 2025: Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has imposed a fine of ₹50,000 on social media influencer Atharva Sudame for shooting reels inside PMPML buses without obtaining official permission.
According to PMPML officials, Sudame recently uploaded two reels on social media that were filmed inside PMPML buses. The administration stated that no written approval was taken for the shoot. The videos also allegedly showed the use of a conductor’s uniform, e-ticketing machine, and official badge without authorisation.
In its notice, PMPML further stated that the content included objectionable behaviour towards women passengers. The administration said such acts affect the mental safety of women in public spaces and violate their rights. It also claimed that the videos damaged PMPML’s public image.
PMPML had earlier issued a notice seeking an explanation and gave Sudame seven days to respond. However, as no reply was received within the given time, the transport body issued a second notice on Wednesday evening and imposed the fine.
PMPML Managing Director and Chairman Pankaj Deore said that filming inside buses without permission is a violation of rules and will not be tolerated.
He added that if the fine is not paid at the earliest, PMPML will initiate legal action under the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act.
