Pune, 22nd August 2026: The district administration has decided to prepare an artificial intelligence (AI)-based action plan to address the long-standing traffic congestion in the Chakan industrial area. District Collector Jitendra Dudi has directed all concerned agencies to complete immediate road repairs and other basic improvements by August 31.
The decision was taken during a review meeting on traffic management, parking and road infrastructure in Chakan MIDC. Dudi directed the MIDC, Public Works Department (PWD), PMRDA, highway authorities and local bodies to work together and complete the required measures within fixed deadlines.
An AI-based virtual model will be prepared to analyse traffic movement, vehicle volume and major congestion points in the industrial area. The initial action plan is expected to be ready by next Friday. It will be submitted for approval in the first week of September, after which the proposed works are expected to be completed within three to four months.
Authorities will conduct joint inspections along the 19-km stretch affected by traffic congestion and identify encroachments obstructing traffic movement. Notices will be issued to those responsible, followed by removal action from next Friday.
The district administration has also ordered immediate repairs at critical locations. Potholes will be filled, road shoulders will be improved, and mud and accumulated waste caused by the monsoon will be cleared.
District Collector Jitendra Dudi said the agencies must coordinate closely and complete these urgent works within the deadline. The administration aims to use the AI-based study for longer-term traffic planning while addressing the immediate road and encroachment-related problems in the industrial area.
