Pune, 19th May 2026: In a joint operation carried out by Khadak Police, Airport Police and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) two Bangladeshi women and a minor boy were detained, who allegedly preparing to board a flight to Guwahati without valid documents from Pune Airport.

The detained women have been identified as Shahinur Begum Sheikh (42) and Shagurika Begum Yulia Sheikh (28). A minor boy was also taken into custody along with them.

According to police officials, Deputy Commissioner of Police Hrisikesh Rawale received information that the three suspects were attempting to travel to Guwahati by air despite not having valid documents. Following the tip-off, Senior Police Inspector Shashikant Chavan of Khadak Police Station immediately sent a police team to Pune Airport.

Police and CISF personnel laid a trap at the airport premises and detained all three suspects before they could board the flight.

Initial investigation revealed that the suspects are originally from Bangladesh’s Bigarhat district. Police said they had allegedly entered India illegally a few days ago and were staying in Solapur before arriving in Pune. From Pune Airport, they were planning to travel further to Guwahati.

The trio has now been handed over to the Vimannagar Police for further investigation and legal action.

Meanwhile, Pune Police said they have intensified their crackdown against Bangladeshi nationals staying illegally in the city. DCP Hrisikesh Rawale stated that 97 Bangladeshi nationals have been detained under Zone 1 limits during the last 10 months as part of the ongoing special drive.
