Pune Airport celebrated Yatri Suvidha Diwas 2026 with a range of activities focused on passengers, community engagement, health, sustainability, and culture, creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere throughout the day.
Organised by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) on Monday, 15 June 2026, the event brought together travellers, students, airport staff, airline personnel, and partner agencies to celebrate better service, inclusivity, and environmental responsibility.
The celebrations began on a patriotic note with a rendition of Vande Mataram in front of the terminal building under the national flag, setting a ceremonial tone for the day. That was followed by an awareness drive involving airport employees, stakeholders, and school children, highlighting the importance of environmental responsibility, passenger facilitation, and community participation in maintaining a clean and efficient Airport ecosystem.
Adding a cultural touch to the occasion, the programme featured elegant Bharatanatyam performances and a traditional local dance depicting Vitthal Puja, offering passengers a glimpse into India's rich artistic heritage and transforming a routine travel day into a memorable, immersive experience.
Passengers arriving at Pune Airport were greeted with a traditional tilak welcome, adding a warm and festive touch to the celebrations. Throughout the day, special assistance was provided to persons with reduced mobility (PRMs) and frequent flyers to ensure a smoother and more comfortable travel experience.
Sustainability also remained a key focus, with passengers receiving fruit-bearing mango and jamun saplings to encourage environmental awareness and greener lifestyles. In addition, a plantation drive was organised at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pune Airport, where students and airport representatives came together to plant trees, reinforcing the importance of environmental conservation and community participation.
Health and wellness were another major focus of the celebrations, with Pune Airport organising a series of initiatives for passengers, staff, and the wider airport community. A blood donation camp was held in association with the Red Cross Society at the arrival hall, while commercial drivers underwent medical check-ups at the multi-level car parking facility. Passengers inside the security hold area also had access to basic health screening services, reflecting the airport's emphasis on preventive healthcare and the overall well-being of everyone using its facilities.
Technology-driven initiatives were also part of the celebrations, with Pune Airport introducing a virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) zone for passengers. The experience included simulations of aircraft operations, space exploration, and a virtual lunar walk. A dedicated gaming zone was also set up inside the terminal for passengers.
As part of its community outreach initiatives, the airport organised guided tours for school and college students, providing them with an overview of airport operations and information about career opportunities in the aviation sector. The programme saw participation from students and was aimed at increasing awareness and understanding of the aviation industry.
Yatri Suvidha Diwas has its roots in the nationwide launch of Yatri Sewa Diwas by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) in September 2025. Introduced as a passenger-focused initiative, it aims to strengthen public engagement and showcase efforts to improve airport services and the overall travel experience.
Yatri Suvidha Diwas was observed on 15 June across AAI airports with a range of activities centred on passenger convenience and community participation. The programme included passenger feedback sessions, cultural performances, health and awareness drives, sustainability initiatives, and interactive exhibits involving airport staff, partner agencies, and local communities.
The observance was organised to encourage public participation, promote awareness about airport services, and highlight ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing the passenger experience.
Priya, a passenger travelling from Pune to Delhi, said, “This is my first time travelling from Pune Airport. As soon as I entered the airport, I came to know that it was celebrating Yatri Suvidha Diwas. The warm welcome and special arrangements made the experience even more memorable. I am thankful to Pune Airport and all the authorities for their hospitality and the efforts they have taken to make passengers feel comfortable and valued.”
