The proposed Nigde–Bhakti Shakti–Wakad–Nashik Phata–Chakan Metro corridor will be 45.295 km long and fully elevated. The original plan includes 34 stations. The project is being planned to meet the transport needs of the city’s growing population, expanding industrial areas and increasing connectivity with the Chakan industrial belt.

The civic body has directed that the revised Metro plan between Nashik Phata and Moshi must remain within the existing 61-metre-wide corridor that has already been acquired or earmarked.

The approved condition states that no additional land, even a small portion beyond the 61-metre boundary, should be acquired for the project. Metro tracks, stations and related infrastructure must also be planned within this existing limit.

The restriction will apply to all agencies involved in the project, including the National Highways Authority of India, MahaMetro and the municipal corporation.

The General Body has also made traffic management a key condition for the project. Alternative roads identified in the Development Plan, along with connecting roads and other traffic routes, must be developed before major Metro construction begins.

The civic body wants these arrangements to be operational first so that construction-related traffic congestion can be avoided as far as possible. These conditions will have to be incorporated into the revised DPR.

The General Body has also approved a proposal to give priority consideration to the Pune–Alandi Metro corridor, keeping in mind the growing importance of Alandi as a pilgrimage centre and the expansion of surrounding areas. The route currently sees around 700 to 800 PMPML bus trips every day, indicating significant public transport demand.
