Pune, 15 December 2025: A major traffic disruption was reported on Pune University Road after a bus collided with a metro pillar late on Sunday night. Soon after the initial impact, a truck coming from behind crashed into the stationary bus, resulting in a double accident near Pune University Chowk.
Although the accident was severe, police confirmed that no casualties or injuries were reported. However, the damaged bus and truck remained at the spot for a long time, creating a bottleneck on one of the city’s busiest roads. Efforts are underway to remove the vehicles and clear the road.
The impact of the accident was felt sharply on Monday morning, the first working day of the week. Ganeshkhind Road is a key route leading towards Hinjewadi IT Park, and traffic movement slowed drastically. Commuters reported that journeys which usually take just a few minutes stretched to 40–50 minutes due to long vehicle queues.
Traffic police personnel were deployed to manage the congestion and restore smooth movement. Ongoing flyover construction work in the area has already narrowed road space, making traffic jams a regular issue. The accident further worsened the situation, leaving many Pune residents frustrated during peak hours.
