Pune, 7th May 2026: A police constable from Koregaon Park Police Station was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹1.5 lakh to avoid executing a non-bailable warrant issued by a Hyderabad court.
The accused has been identified as Ganesh Shahaji Kaspate (40), a resident of Fursungi. According to ACB officials, a cheque bounce case was pending against the owner of the complainant’s company in a Hyderabad court, where a non-bailable warrant had been issued.
Police said Kaspate had initially demanded ₹2.5 lakh to prevent action on the warrant. During the investigation, it was also revealed that he had allegedly accepted ₹5 lakh earlier on March 7 for the same matter.
The complainant approached the ACB on May 5, following which officials verified the allegations. During verification, Kaspate allegedly agreed to settle the deal for ₹1.5 lakh.
Acting on the complaint, the ACB laid a trap on Wednesday afternoon near a housing society on Boat Club Road in Pune. While accepting the money, Kaspate allegedly tried to flee after sensing the operation.
Officials said he bit the complainant on the chest and pushed ACB personnel in an attempt to escape, but was eventually overpowered and taken into custody.
A case has been registered at Koregaon Park Police Station. The operation was carried out under the guidance of Pune Range Superintendent of Police Shirish Sardeshpande, Additional SPs Ajit Patil and Arjun Bhosale. Further investigation is being conducted by Assistant Commissioner of Police Bharti More.
