Pune, 29 April 2026: A BJP worker was shot dead in a shocking broad daylight attack in Maval area, creating panic in Dehuroad. The victim, identified as Ramesh Reddy, was targeted by unidentified assailants who opened fire on him on a busy road.
As per initial information, the attackers fired multiple rounds, with reports suggesting around nine bullets were shot at Reddy. One of the bullets hit his head, causing him to collapse instantly. He was quickly taken to a private hospital in Dehuroad, but doctors declared him dead before he could receive treatment.
The incident triggered tension in the locality, with family members and supporters gathering outside the hospital in grief and anger. They attempted to block the old Pune-Mumbai highway, but police intervened and brought the situation under control.
Later, the body was shifted to Yashwantrao Chavan Hospital in Pimpri-Chinchwad for postmortem. The sudden and violent nature of the killing has left the local community in shock, while markets in the Dehuroad area remained shut for some time following the incident.
The motive behind the murder is still unknown. Dehuroad police have launched a detailed investigation and are scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify the attackers. Security has been tightened, and additional police personnel have been deployed to maintain law and order.
