

Pune, 12th September 2026: The Crime Branch’s Anti-Human Trafficking Unit has busted an alleged prostitution racket operating in the Uttamnagar area of Shivane and rescued a minor girl.
The police arrested three people in connection with the case, Pintu Gyandev Chavan, 38, a resident of Shivane; Indu Santosh Nikhare, 52; and Sanunda Nandu Lohkare, 40, a resident of Narhe.
According to police, they received confidential information that prostitution was being conducted at Flat No. 31 in Sai Shraddha Apartment on the Shivane-Uttamnagar Road.
Acting on the information, the team, under the guidance of Police Inspector Ashalata Khapare, arranged a decoy customer and conducted a raid on Thursday, September 10. During the operation, police rescued a minor girl from the premises and detained the three accused.
A case has been registered at Uttamnagar Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police Tejaswi Satpute, Deputy Commissioner of Police Gauhar Hasan and Assistant Commissioner of Police Shankar Khatke. Assistant Inspector Vikram Misal and other members of the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit assisted Inspector Khapare in the action.
