Pune, 2nd July 2026: A sub-inspector attached to Deccan Police Station has been suspended after he allegedly misbehaved with customers and employees at a café in Deccan. Additional Commissioner of Police Rajesh Bansode ordered the suspension of Sub-Inspector Sandeep Kadam following the incident.
According to police, Kadam was on night patrol duty on June 6 when he visited the Flying Gypsy Café on Shirole Road at around 1:45 am. He allegedly used a baton to knock coffee glasses and food items off the counter, forced customers to leave the premises, and behaved aggressively with the café staff.
The entire incident was captured on the café's CCTV cameras, and the footage later went viral on social media, drawing widespread criticism.
Police said Kadam's actions damaged the reputation of the department and amounted to misconduct while on duty. Based on the findings, disciplinary proceedings were initiated, leading to his suspension from government service.
The action also comes against the backdrop of the Pune Police's recently introduced guidelines for hotels and bars. Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has directed officers to follow due legal procedure while enforcing rules, making it clear that violations should be handled through lawful action rather than personal misconduct.
