Pune, 11th August 2026: District Administration is preparing for a major infrastructure upgrade ahead of the Pune Grand Tour Cycling Competition scheduled from January 27 to 31, 2027. The project will cover both city and the district, with a focus on improving road quality and strengthening connectivity across key routes.

Under the plan, the Public Works Department (PWD) will construct around 413 km of new roads and redevelop 348 km of existing roads. The project, estimated to cost ₹627 crore, will begin on August 15, 2026, and is expected to be completed within 100 days through a five-phase execution plan.

Officials said the roads being developed for the cycling event will follow international standards, with emphasis on smooth surfaces and improved connectivity along the competition routes. PWD Pune Superintending Engineer Bharatkumar Baviskar stated that the work will be completed within the set timeline while maintaining quality standards.

Beyond the sporting event, the project is expected to bring long-term benefits by improving connectivity between Pune city and rural areas. It will also strengthen the district’s transport network and enhance access to various regions.
