The heat wave gripping Pune has intensified further, with Saturday (25th) recording the highest temperature of the season so far in Lohegaon. The rising mercury has left residents struggling, as temperatures continue to stay above 40°C in several parts of the city. According to data from the observatory, Lohegaon recorded a maximum temperature of 42.4°C, while Shivajinagar touched 41°C.
Over the past few days, temperatures across Pune have been steadily rising. By around 10 am, the sun’s intensity becomes noticeable, while afternoons are marked by harsh, scorching heat and hot winds that make outdoor movement increasingly difficult.
Several areas, including Pashan, Chinchwad, Koregaon Park, Hadapsar, and Magarpatta, also recorded significantly high daytime temperatures. Roads in the afternoon appeared dry and overheated, adding to public discomfort as residents reported heavy sweating and fatigue.
Despite expectations of unseasonal rainfall offering some relief for the second consecutive day, no showers were recorded. The Pune Observatory has indicated that the heat wave is likely to persist over the coming days. Citizens have been advised to avoid outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours and stay well hydrated.
