

Pune experienced a significant spike in temperatures in last 2 days as on Sunday, April 12, with both Shivajinagar and Lohegaon recording the highest temperatures of the season so far, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
At Shivajinagar, the maximum temperature reached 39.8°C, which is 2°C above normal, while the minimum stood at 20.3°C, slightly above average by 0.6°C.
Meanwhile, Lohegaon recorded a higher maximum temperature in the city of 40.9°C, exceeding normal levels by 3.1°C. The minimum temperature there was 24.4°C, which is 4.7°C above normal.
The city has witnessed a sharp increase of more than 5°C over the past three days, leading to rising discomfort among residents and affecting daily routines.
Weather officials have indicated that the warming trend is likely to continue throughout the week. Shivajinagar is expected to see temperatures ranging between 40°C and 41°C, while Lohegaon could touch 41°C to 42°C on some days.
The IMD has also forecast dry weather conditions, with no rainfall expected in Pune or most parts of Maharashtra over the next week, suggesting that the heat is likely to persist.
