Pune, 31st August 2026: Kharadi police have arrested a 23-year-old man after his girlfriend, a 23-year-old computer engineer, died by suicide at her residence following an argument between the two. The incident took place at River Dale Society in Kharadi on Friday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Jhanvi Pathak, 23, originally from Bihar. Police said Jhanvi and accused Amritkumar Arunkumar Singh, 23, were known to each other from their school days.
Jhanvi had completed her engineering education in Rajasthan and was working as an engineer at an IT company in Kharadi. She had been living in Pune for the past two months. Singh works at an IT company in Noida and had come to Pune two days before the incident to meet her.
According to police , the couple had an argument on Thursday night, which reportedly escalated into a physical altercation. The following morning, Singh went downstairs from the room. Around the same time, Jhanvi died by suicide.
Jhanvi’s 49-year-old uncle, who lives in Uttar Pradesh, filed a complaint at Kharadi police station. Based on the complaint, police registered a case against Singh and arrested him.
Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Chavan is conducting further investigation.
