Pune, 6th November 2025: Just days after a deadly crash near Koregaon Park, Pune witnessed another fatal accident on Wednesday night when a high-speed Honda City rammed into a metro pillar in Kothrud. The accident occurred between 11:30 pm and 11:45 pm near the SNDT Metro Station on Paud Road.
The car was traveling at high speed toward Swargate, lost control and crashed into a double-storey metro flyover pillar. The vehicle was severely damaged, but the driver survived thanks to airbags. He suffered injuries and was pulled out by nearby youth who rushed to help. They also alerted the police control room and traffic police.
According to initial information, the injured man lives near the Alankar Police Station jurisdiction. Police suspect he may have been under the influence of alcohol, though testing is still underway.
Social worker Rishikesh Balgude, who was passing through the area with friends, said they witnessed the car speeding before it struck the pillar. The group stopped their vehicle and assisted in rescuing the injured driver, calling his family using his mobile phone and informing authorities.
The incident comes soon after the Koregaon Park metro pillar crash near Bund Garden, where three youths lost their lives. Although Wednesday’s collision caused massive vehicle damage, no fatalities were reported.
Police are conducting further investigation.
