Pune, 7th September 2026: The Pune district administration and municipal corporation have decided to speed up land acquisition for the High Capacity Mass Transit Route (HCMT) Road and Inner Ring Road projects. Both projects are considered important for improving Pune’s future transport network and reducing traffic congestion.

A meeting was held at the district collector’s office on Friday in the presence of Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi and Municipal Commissioner Navalkishor Ram. Officials from the land acquisition, revenue, land records, forest and engineering departments attended the meeting and reviewed the progress of both projects.
The administration has directed the concerned departments to work together and submit proposals for the transfer of government, forest, defence and railway land to the state government by September 11.
The HCMT Road project is planned over 43 kilometres and covers 16 villages. A total of 51.73 hectares of land is required for the project. Proposals for acquiring 29.75 hectares of private land in 13 villages have already been submitted to the district collector’s office.
The administration has now directed officials to speed up the process of transferring the remaining 29.98 hectares of government, forest and defence land. The project is estimated to cost Rs 2,534.37 crore.
The Inner Ring Road will have a total length of 83.12 kilometres, of which 39.27 kilometres will fall within the Pune Municipal Corporation limits. The project covers 21 villages and requires around 332 hectares of land.
Joint measurement and valuation of land have been completed in eight villages. Acquisition proposals for these villages have already been submitted, while proposals for five more villages were recently submitted to the district collector’s office.
The estimated cost of the Inner Ring Road project is Rs 1,500 crore.
The alignment of the Inner Ring Road remains unresolved in Dhayari, Vadgaon Khurd, Shivane, Warje and Bavdhan Khurd.
Officials have been asked to examine the proposed changes and technical aspects of the alignment and submit a detailed and final report before the next review meeting.
The district administration and municipal corporation have stressed that close coordination between the revenue, land records, forest and civic authorities is necessary to avoid further delays in both projects.
