Pune, 11 March 2026: Rumours of a possible shortage of domestic LPG cylinders due to the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel have triggered panic among residents in several parts of Pune.

In areas such as Dhayari, many people rushed to gas agencies to refill or book cylinders, fearing future supply disruptions.

However, gas distributors and oil companies have clarified that the supply of domestic LPG is currently running smoothly across the country. Officials said there is no shortage and citizens do not need to worry or rush to stock cylinders.

According to distributors, India imports LPG from multiple countries and also produces it domestically. Because of this diversified supply system, a conflict in any single region does not immediately affect LPG availability in the country.

They also explained that gas agencies are receiving regular cylinder supplies from oil companies and have adequate stock to meet daily demand. Cylinders are being delivered to consumers as per the usual distribution schedule.

Officials cautioned that panic booking by consumers could create temporary pressure on the distribution system. If many households book cylinders unnecessarily, some customers might experience delays in delivery.

Authorities have therefore urged residents not to rely on rumours or incomplete information circulating on social media. Citizens should book LPG cylinders only when required and avoid unnecessary stockpiling.

Consumers facing delays in cylinder delivery have been advised to contact their respective gas distributors. In many cases, delays occur due to high local demand or delivery scheduling, but companies are working to ensure timely service.

Gas booking facilities remain fully operational through mobile apps, official websites, SMS and phone calls, allowing customers to book cylinders conveniently from home.

Experts also noted that while global conflicts can influence international energy markets, India manages its LPG supply through multiple import sources and strategic reserves. This system reduces the risk of sudden shortages.

Officials added that while international energy prices can fluctuate during geopolitical tensions, any change in domestic LPG prices is decided after review by the central government and oil companies. A sudden sharp price increase is unlikely.

Authorities have again appealed to citizens to stay calm, rely on official information and avoid unnecessary panic, assuring that the LPG supply chain in India remains stable.
