Pune, 21 June 2025: Keeping in mind the Palkhi Processions of Sant Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj, yesterday Pune Metro increased the trips of Metro. As most of the roads are closed due to the Palkhi processions, commuters and devotees use these additional trips to travel to their destinations.
Almost 3 lakh 20 thousand travellers used this service on Friday, both on Line 1 and 2. By taking X (previously Twitter), Pune Metro expressed its gratitude towards people.
They said, “Heartfelt thanks for your trust in Pune Metro! On Friday, June 20, citizens of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad gave an overwhelming response to Pune Metro services. A remarkable 3,19,066 passengers travelled by metro on that day. To accommodate the increased footfall, 130 additional trips were operated on both Line 1 and Line 2. Pune Metro is always committed to ensuring your journey is comfortable, safe, and on time!”
Both the Palkhis are gonna stay in the city for 2 more days. Keeping in mind the weekend and road closures, we can expect more citizens will travel through the Metro in the upcoming two days.
