Rainfall Below Normal: Overall July rainfall in the city is now below the seasonal average, with monsoon activity weakening.
Rising Heat and Humidity: Temperatures have risen due to the rain pause, and while light rain is expected in isolated areas, no major weather change is forecast.
Pune, 19 July 2025: For the first time since 2021, Pune’s Shivajinagar has recorded three consecutive days without rainfall in July. This unusual dry spell comes as the city’s cumulative rainfall for the month falls below the seasonal normal, raising concerns about a potential monsoon shortfall.
After a brief spell of rain earlier this week, Pune has entered a quiet phase in terms of monsoon activity. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has confirmed a weakening in the weather system over the region, leading to rising daytime temperatures and high humidity.
The city has seen warmer days over the past two days, with the IMD predicting that this trend will continue for a few more days. Partly cloudy skies and the possibility of very light rain in some areas are expected, but no significant change in the overall weather pattern is likely.
For Saturday, the maximum temperature in Pune is forecast to reach around 30°C, while the minimum temperature will hover near 23°C. Overcast skies may offer temporary relief, but the IMD has stated that chances of heavy rainfall remain low in the immediate future.
Officials have advised residents to stay hydrated and take precautions against heat and humidity, as muggy conditions persist despite the cloud cover. Light drizzles may provide some comfort, but overall, the monsoon remains subdued across the city for now.
