Pune 31 July 2025: Pune witnessed a protest by Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) aspirants outside the District Collector's office, where students demanded immediate recruitment for vacant engineering posts in state departments.
The protest focused on two major pending recruitments, one by the Water Resources Department (WRD) for Junior Engineer (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical) posts, and another by the Soil and Water Conservation Department for Civil Engineering posts.
The aspirants insisted that all available positions should be filled without delay and urged the state government to act on its promises. They emphasized that the vacancies have been long pending, causing distress to qualified candidates who are ready to serve.
A memorandum was submitted to the District Collector. Protester Vijay, speaking on behalf of the students, said "the Maharashtra government had earlier announced recruitment in the Soil and Water Conservation Department. However, no official advertisement has been published yet. The students are now demanding that the recruitment process be started immediately".
The protest remained peaceful and aimed to draw attention to the urgency of the issue, especially as many qualified candidates are waiting for these long-promised government jobs.
