The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has revived the recruitment process for 169 Junior Engineer (JE–Class 3) posts, including seats reserved under the Maratha quota.
The original recruitment for 113 posts was halted in January 2024 due to the introduction of SEBC reservation, and the number of posts has now been increased.
Candidates who applied earlier and have since crossed the age limit will still be eligible, with the state government granting an age relaxation as per PMC’s request.
Pune, 24 July 2025: After months of delay, the Pune Municipal Corporation has resumed its recruitment drive for Junior Engineer (Class 3) positions in the Building Department. The recruitment now includes seats under the Maratha quota, and the number of posts has been revised from 113 to 169.
The initial advertisement was released in January 2024 for 113 posts. However, following the implementation of the SEBC (Socially and Educationally Backward Classes) reservation, the process was put on hold. Upon review and guidance from the Urban Development Department and the Divisional Commissioner’s office, it was determined that 171 positions were vacant in total. Of these, two were filled under the Lad-Page Committee guidelines, leaving 169 posts open for recruitment.
Out of 27,879 candidates who had applied to the earlier notification, many have now exceeded the upper age limit. Taking note of this, the state government, on PMC’s recommendation, has allowed age relaxation. These applicants will now be considered eligible and will also have an opportunity to revise their category preferences.
The updated recruitment process will be conducted through the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS). The civic body has placed the proposal before the Standing Committee. Previously, PMC had completed recruitment for 448 and 320 posts in two separate phases. This third phase marks a significant hiring round, specifically for Junior Engineers in the construction division.
