PMPML has launched bus services inside the Chakan MIDC zone, fulfilling a long-pending demand by the Federation of Chakan Industries (FCI).
The new circular and Bhosari-Nighoje routes aim to ease commuting for workers and students, with buses every 30 minutes and women conductors for added safety.
This move is expected to reduce traffic congestion, pollution, and improve overall transport safety and worker punctuality in Pune’s Chakan industrial belt.
Pune, 4th August 2025: In a major improvement for public transport in Pune's Chakan industrial belt, the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has officially launched bus services within the Chakan MIDC area. This marks a crucial step toward easing daily commuting issues faced by thousands of workers and students in the region.
The initiative comes after consistent efforts and follow-ups by the Federation of Chakan Industries (FCI), which had been urging PMPML, the District Collector, and other stakeholders to provide reliable public transport in the area. Until now, the absence of a proper bus service had caused major inconvenience to the large working population in the industrial hub.
The new circular bus service was flagged off near NTB International Limited. Present at the launch were FCI Director Kamal Kacholia, FCI CEO Dilip Batwal, Vinod Jain, Govind Pansare, NTB GM A. Raja, Siddharam Chadchani, and PMPML officials Rajesh Jadhav and GM Sampat Shelimkar, among others.
“This service will help ease commuting problems, improve traffic flow, and increase safety for workers, especially women,” said FCI CEO Dilip Batwal, reflecting on the long-awaited development.
Two main routes have been launched:
Circular Route: Ambethan Chowk – Alandi Phata – Nighoje Phata – Mercedes Chowk – Skoda Gate 1 – Sigma Chowk – HP Chowk – Bajaj Company – Mahalunge – Kharabwadi – Chakan – Ambethan Chowk.
Bhosari-Nighoje Route: Bhosari – Chakan Road – Moshi Octroi – Moshi Village – Chimbali Phata – Kurli Phata – Nighoje Phata – Mercedes Chowk – Skoda Gate 2 – Sigma Company – Endurance – Mahindra Gate 1 & 2 – Nighoje Village.
The buses will operate every 30 minutes and include women conductors to ensure safe travel for female passengers.
This PMPML initiative is expected to reduce traffic congestion, minimize road accidents, cut down pollution, and ensure timely arrival of workers in one of Pune’s most vital industrial zones.
