Pune, 2nd December 2025: Khadak Police have uncovered a large racket involved in selling highly dangerous sedative and intoxicating tablets across the city. Two men were arrested and nearly 7,000 tablets were seized during an early morning operation at Jedhe Chowk.
The arrested accused have been identified as Sameer Hamid Shaikh (40), a resident of Burj Al Marjan, Kondhwa, and Sunil Gajanan Sharma (34), from Sukhsagarnagar, Kondhwa. Police found the tablets hidden in their two-wheeler and also recovered more stock from their house in Kondhwa.
According to police investigations, the accused were selling these tablets without any licence or medical prescription. They allegedly sourced the pills from different locations and supplied them illegally in Kondhwa, Kashewadi, Hadapsar, Camp, Yerawada and nearby areas.
Police said that the tablets were widely sold near schools, colleges and slum pockets, pushing several young people towards addiction.
Based on a tip-off received by police constable Ashish Chavan, a team led by Senior Police Inspector Shashikant Chavan laid a trap at Jedhe Chowk in the early hours of Wednesday. The suspects arrived on a two-wheeler, following which the team intercepted them and recovered the illegal stock.
