Pune, 12th September 2026: Police have taken preventive action against 27 people with criminal backgrounds ahead of the Ganeshotsav. Externment orders have been issued against them, barring them from entering Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and parts of Pune district for the period specified in the respective orders.
The action was carried out by seven police stations — Wanowrie, Wagholi, Bharati Vidyapeeth, Chandan Nagar, Lohegaon, Airport and Lonikand — to prevent disturbances and maintain law and order during the festival.
According to police, the externed individuals have criminal cases registered against them for various offences, including attempted murder, assault, criminal conspiracy, theft, vandalism, gambling, illegal liquor sales, verbal abuse and molestation.
