Pune, 9th April 2026: A shocking incident has emerged in city, bringing shame to the Pune Police. Three police personnel have been suspended for allegedly extorting money from young individuals by threatening to implicate them in a sex racket case.
The accused officers, police havaldar Kiran Abdagire and constables Ganesh Khade and Kiran Kamble, were posted at the Wagholi police station. The case came to light after a young man filed a complaint with Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, following which an internal inquiry was initiated.
According to the investigation, on April 2, Khade and Kamble were on patrol in the Wagholi area when they received a late-night call from the control room about suspicious activity in a residential society.
Acting on the tip-off, they reached the location and detained a 24-year-old man, bringing him to the police station where Abdagire was on duty.
The three officers allegedly threatened to frame him in a sex racket case and extorted ₹10,000 from him, which was paid through UPI.
After verifying the complaint, Deputy Commissioner of Police Somay Munde ordered action against the accused. All three policemen were subsequently suspended.
The incident has raised serious concerns about abuse of power within the police force and highlights the need for stronger accountability mechanisms.
